In many operating environments, authority sits in elders, regulators, community leaders, or long-tenured gatekeepers who hold no formal title. MAPS helps teams distinguish formal authority from the authority that actually moves things — and to engage each appropriately.
Power
How influence actually flows through the system. Power is the current beneath the structure. It flows through relationships, resources, information, and reputation. Systems and Social Trust
The rules, routines, and trust that hold the environment together . Every context has a system — regulatory, cultural, institutional — and a level of social trust that determines how that system actually operates in practice. Understanding both tells you what you can reasonably expect, what will take longer than planned, and what simply cannot be forced.
